A Quick Start Guide for Podcasters Working with a Remote Editor
This guide will help you set up your first session, record your podcast, and share it with your editor—smoothly and professionally.

Step 1: Setting Up Hindenburg

1.1 Install and Launch Hindenburg
If you haven’t already, download and install Hindenburg Journalist Pro from hindenburg.com.
Open the app

1.2 Plug In Your Audio Interface
Connect your microphone or multitrack interface (e.g., RØDECaster) to your computer. Hindenburg will automatically detect connected devices.

1.3 Select Your Input
In the track control area (on the left side of each track):

  • Click the track name and rename it (e.g., “Host”).

  • Choose your microphone or input device from the dropdown.

Repeat for a second track if you’re recording another person locally.

Tip: After your first setup, go to File > Save As Template to reuse this configuration for future episodes.


Step 2: Get Ready to Record

2.1 Arm the Tracks
Click the red “Arm” button next to each track you want to record, or press Shift + R.

2.2 Hit Record
Press Ctrl + Spacebar to start recording.
Hindenburg automatically manages input levels using Auto Level,


Step 3: Save and Share Your Session

3.1 Set Up a Shared Folder
Use a cloud service like Dropbox or Google Drive:

Save the Session

Go to File > Save or press Ctrl/Cmd + S. Choose a clear file name (e.g., Episode01_Raw.nhsx).

3.2 Save the Session
Go to File > Save or press Ctrl/Cmd + S. Choose a clear file name (e.g., Episode01_Raw.nhsx).

  • Save your entire session folder into the shared folder.

  • Ensure all associated audio files are included (Hindenburg keeps them together).

3.3 Give Your Editor Access
Once your editor has access, they can open the session in Hindenburg, complete the edits, and export the final audio.
