Try this to check the settings in your sound interface:

* Open Control Panel 
* Open “Hardware and Sound” 
* Open “Sound” 
* Under ""Playback"" choose your speakers 
* Click Properties 
* Note what is written under “Controller Information” 
* Click the “Advanced” tab 
* Change so that “Default Format” is 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality) 
* Make sure that both options under “Exclusive Mode” are checked.
