Automating Panning, Effects, and Plugins
Hello,
I would like to request that you add automation support for panning, effects, and plugins. I am upgrading from an app on my iPad because of limitations, and I got Hindenburg free with my Vocaster Two, so it was the obvious upgrade. It is so awesome to see a DAW designed specifically with podcasters in mind, and the lack of automation for anything other than gain is pretty much my only gripe. I make a non-fiction podcast with a lot of music and an audio-drama podcast, both of which require me to frequently adjust things like panning, reverb, pitch, etc. throughout the episode.
I saw there was a request for automating plugins 10 years ago (https://rebrand.ly/HindyAutomation), and your response was that there could be issues with the points moving around with the audio and simplicity, if I understood correctly. I have not tested automation on many other DAWs, but one thing my previous DAW does to solve the moving issue is that the automation points behave much like other audio clips: you can move them individually, select multiple to move, and select them and audio clips to move. (I have attached a video of me using the automation feature on my previous DAW, in case that is helpful.) I believe a possible solution for Hindenburg could be making automation movements similar to audio clip selection and track linking: a setting that you can turn on for the automation points to automatically move with the audio above them, and then having the ability to move and select the points like audio clips when it's turned off. As for being confusing or overwhelming, selecting which automations to display and having the option to simply hide or show all automations would fix that.
I hope you can implement this so I won’t have to find another DAW (which I really don't want to do because Hindenburg is amazing) or use workarounds that result in having way too many tracks.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this request.
Thanks,
Devon
