1. More radiant color for Solo

   When we click on "Mute", the color change is a nice bright yellow. But when we click on "Solo" the color change is not as noticeable. Please make the activation of "Solo" the same bright yellow as "Mute". Perhaps even make it "Bold".

   I have many times scratched my head wondering why a track can't be heard. Then I squint at "Solo" as see that it has been activated.

2. Backspace functions like the Mac does...

   I work between my Mac and my PC. The Backspace (PC) and Delete key (Mac) serve different functions between Hindenburg PRO. Would it be possible to make the Backspace key function as the Delete key does on the mac, deleting the selected region?

   Constantly launching myself back to the start is driving me nuts.

3. More Than 4 Effects

   There needs to be the ability to put more than 4 effects on a track. I use Compression, EQ, Noise Reduction and a separate effect plugin to get my raw audio to it's baseline that I use for my show. Then I like to add filters and other effects to that file to alter certain sounds, or add reverb. I can't do that when all 4 of the available effect slots are full.

4. Automatic crossfades for all cuts

   Hello,

   I use Hindenburg for podcast editing, and one thing I'd love is the ability to shift-select across several cuts and hit 'F' (or some other key/combination) to add crossfades between every cut in the selected region. Right now, I have to crossfade across all my cuts manually, and it's very time consuming. If I could pave over abrupt cuts and clipped breaths automatically, it would be so, so useful. Thanks!

5. Please make Hindenburg Jounalist Pro available on the Mac App Store

   For various reasons, I will not install any software on my Mac that does not come from the Mac App Store. I willing accept that that will mean a higher price, but it's worth it for me.

   Please put Hindenburg Journalist Pro on the (UK) Mac App Store. If you do, I will buy it at pretty much any price.

6. try the upgrade

   Hi I bought Hindenburg but it's a bit limited for my needs and I'd like to upgrade soon. I wanted to get a free trial of the Hindenburg Journalist Pro to see if it what I'm after, but it says that I can't as I already tried the trial (before my first Hindenburg purchase.) Is there a way I can still try the trial for Journalist Pro before possibly buying?

7. Saving a default session

   I love that I can save a default session with all the tracks I use for my usual podcast. But is doesn't save my plug-ins on the track. So every time I start I waste a couple minutes adding compressors, eq, etc to the tracks. Is there a way to save the plug-ins with the default that I"m missing?
   If not that would be a great time saver.

8. Navigation and Exporting

   Hi, I've been using Journalist PRO for about 6 months now. I have high hopes for this platform but there are some things that need addressing.

   1. Ability to Export all chapters at once with either auto naming (name_01.wav) or name of chapter.

   2. Option to make the Export progress window disappear after export. Please!! Having to close that window and export each chapter one at a time is a time killer!!

   3. When adding a Master track it should automatically create it at the bottom of the window, and...

   4. Master track should be size adjustable independently from the other tracks.

   5. Ability to rearrange track order with drag and drop

   6. Ability to save more than one session template

   NAVIGATION!!!
   7. zoom should center the playhead in the workspace

   1. Ability to use keyboard arrow keys to jump to playhead, jump to beginning or end of selected region.

   2. Ability to use down arrow to relocate cursor to current playhead position…. while in playback or rec mode.

   3. MARKERs 1 and 2 should be markers! Not In/Out selection! Please!

   I do hope you can address the needs of the professional community quickly as I've already started to recommend Hindenburg for broadcast applications.

9. Improve Journalist PRO

   After a good month of using Journalist PRO every week I have these suggestions to make this product better and more competitive with the current marketplace of DAWs.

   • Ability Save session as template
   • Clock removable and visible when in another app
   • Ability to make individual tracks different heights
   • Makers 1 and 2 should not be in/out
   • I should be able to drop a marker in the tracks playback/record area even if the “Marker” window is highlighted. This is VERY important.
   • ability to delete ALL markers Select all markers to delete
   • Shuffle trim and Region trim should work on all linked tracks
   • In/Out should be manipulatable using Shift + click (which is easily programed into multi-button mice)
   • While tracks are linked, a selection in one region should also select the same region in all tracks and Shift + End should work on all linked tracks. So if I click one region on track 1, that same area should be selected on all linked tracks. That way when I delete an area the spacing/layout of all tracks remains consistent.
   • Ability to shift + click two markers to highlight and bounce only what's between those markers
   • The volume/gain indicator on each track should have a crosshair or other indicator to easily see that the level is at zero or not.
   • When double + clicking on a Marker, the playhead/selection should jump to the middle of the screen.
   • When selecting a region with the arrow keys, the beginning of the selection should jump to the middle of the screen.
   • When zooming in/out the playhead or beginning of selected region should stay in the middle of screen.
   • Ability to re-locate a chapter pin by double clicking it’s time locator and entering the time code.

   After a good month of using Journalist PRO every week I have these suggestions to make this product better and more competitive with the current marketplace of DAWs.

10. Make recoding and editing waaaaay quicker.

    Three things:
    1. The first 2 markers used always have an "In/Out" designation. That means that all my sessions that have markers will begin with Marker 3. Kind of silly, no? The "In/Out" selection would better be available only in Edit mode, or when I consciously drag over a selection. Then, if it were available, I could preview the edit by playing it when I hit the spacebar. Then I could Commd+X if I wanted it deleted.

    1. If a person accidentally clicks on the "Markers" window when recording OR playing they can no longer drop a marker. This is very annoying. Hugely annoying. Massively annoying. Fantastically annoying. Either disable that, or create a new function that allows me to drop a marker using the Enter or Return key.... whenever I want and no matter what part of the workspace window is highlighted.

    2. When I double click on a marker, make the waveform jump to that marker. If I'm double clicking on it I clearly wish to go to that location.

11. Resync tracks

    You know how it goes: you're editing a multitrack file, think you're deleting portions from all the tracks and five minutes later realize you'd only activated one track, thus pushing much of the project out of sync.

    Cmd-z to the rescue, but that means losing all the cuts you've made.

    So what about a way to restore the sync between two or more audio files? I'm not quite sure how to implement it UI/UX wise, but I'm pretty sure that even a clumsy version would be super helpful.

12. a few suggestions

    Hi there, I just started using Hindenburgh Pro since joining Annie Fredrickson, who I believe you met when you were touring Australia. Very sleek and powerful and I enjoy using it. But I have a couple of suggestions that may make it a bit easier to use- requiring fewer clicks and adjustments. Apologies if the functionality is already there and I simply haven't discovered it. Or if they are just habits I've picked up from using other software, and I just need to get more used to Hindy.

    • Allow one to add a group to another group so these are nested (as they are in Microsoft Powerpoint). It becomes frustrating when you need to tweak the levels for one group but you have to ungroup it to do so. And if the group previously contains many clips on many channels, it is very tedious going back and subgrouping them every time.

    • All one to shift-select a particular clip within a group to trim/edit gain etc (as one does in Illustrator). Currently you can UN-SELECT a clip from a group but this isn’t very useful. And having to ungroup is painstaking as mentioned above.

    • Currently when you insert a split into some grouped clips and delete one of them, then the other becomes ‘orphaned’ from the group. This is frustrating as it requires the old ungroup-regroup rigmarole again. (are you detecting a common theme here?)

    • If I have two clips grouped together and I want to fade in evenly across both of them- but the fade tool only applies across on clip at a time.

    • Sometimes it’s easy to accidentally trim a clip by accident when you really just wanted to move it (especially when you are zoomed out and the clips are small, or part of a big group). It would be nice to be able to LOCK any further edits to a clip.

    • An example might be when you’re zoomed into a section to make some fine edits and you’re sliding blocks around, but outside the area you’re viewing the blocks are sliding over each other and cancelling each other. (in Audacity the blocks will only slide as far as the next one, rather than sliding over the top of each other).

    • Sometimes at a late stage in editing, you want to cut some audio from a vocal track, and have all the other groups on all the other layers fall in. Of course you can select the region across all tracks before cutting it, but

    • By default set white playhead in one spot and keep returning to it (like Audacity). This makes iteasier to fine tune edits using the cursor keys rather than mouse placement. I realise that one can use a Mark in a similar way, but this involves extra keystrokes and again, the imprecision of the mouse placement.

    • Some mp3 won’t import. Something to to do with the metadata? I was able to work around by importing and exporting out of iTunes after changing format. E.g. http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Rebecca_Foon/Live_At_CKUT_on_Montreal_Sessions/02_Hearts_Mend_Prelude

13. Make importing from a CD faster?

    Some of our outside producers give me their shows on a disk with several tracks. With Soundforge I could import the entire CD in less than 2 minutes. On Journalist Pro I'm sitting at 5 minutes and only halfway done importing the CD. Maybe it's due to each track being normalized during the import? I DO like that feature.

14. More options while working on multiple individual files

    I do a lot of shorts like "A Moment in Time" and "90 Second Naturalist". As it is, all I can do is right-click->export selection about 30 times. an option to export multiple files individually would be amazing (something like Audacity has). This forces me to use Audacity for half of my work.

    It would be nice to have more metadata options that aren't JUST for the whole session. All I have right now is the option to change the name, which doesn't help me input the necessary information for ENCO.

15. Change order of tracks

    It would be nice to be able to change the order of the tracks just by dragging them to a new position. Minor thing, but if it is possible...

16. Lock Track

    Add a LOCK TRACK button so that an individual track can be locked so other editing operations will not change it. All regions would stay in place on that track and could not be deleted if locked.

    Journalist PRO is GREAT!!!!!

    This control could be added to this drop-down in the photo attached. Then the blue could turn red to show the track is locked.

    We will see if we can improve on the Zoom settings. But here is a Tip. If you press F6, then the playhead will center.

18. Record Timer

    I've decided to use Hindenburg's interface to transfer archival interviews stored on DAT to my computer. A helpful feature would be a timer that would stop recording at a pre-set length.
