Short-cut for moving cursor to beginning of segment.
Must use mouse now to move to beginning of the piece. Is there a shortcut here that I'm missing?
1 voteBackspace should do it.

Loop function
I'm an editor, sound designer and mixing engineer, who uses Hindenburg Pro on a daily basis. It's my bread and butter and I work for different media outlets such as NPR and diverse German broadcasting companies.
So far I've been able to do some of the mixing, editing and cleaning up of audio on HBP and it would save me tons of time and clicks if there was a loop function, so that I didn't have to jump back every time I need to listen to the same piece of audio over and over, as it's pretty much standard on…

Group auto level functionality
Hi,
Sometimes I have a voicetrack for a promo, short production, that is one cut, and the auto level works great.
But, in long interviews, podcasts, shows, I am often cutting sections, removing mouth noise, replace a word, etc. Which can leave me with several edits within a few seconds of a voice track. The auto level tries to change each segment. The result is unusable of course because the levels are un-naturally all over the place for several seconds.
Could it be possible to highlight several clips in a track, and have it auto level as a whole?
I…
2 votesThis is already possible:
Simply select all the clips and use the auto-level function in the Tools menu.
Check this tutorial https://hindenburg.com/support/tutorials'and'x'='x#videos-7 at around the 5 min mark for a demo.

Tooltip for Stereo (L/R) panning
This is a rather simple but helpful one:
Aso of now (build 2182), we can achieve left/right stereo panning by using a simple slider. That's great.
But to do this precisely or symmetrically, one has to count pixels on that slider.
I'd like to see some sort of simple tooltip to help us with that. Something like:
100% Left ... 1% Left ... Center (or 0%) ... 1% Right ... 100% RightThat's all.

ASIO Support
ASIO support so that audio interfaces with multiple inputs could be used would make Hindenburg the ideal DAW for many podcasters. I record 3 microphones via a focusrite scarlet 18i8. I would love to use Hindenburg for its spoken word focus, but it currently can not fit my recording needs.

Support podcast chapters for mp3s
Marco Arment's popular iOS podcast app Overcast supports mp3 chapters and it's become more popular among notable podcasts to support it.
According to Marco, "There’s an MP3 ID3v2 Chapters spec that’s extremely easy to read and write."
Hindenburg already has chapter support for aac files, it would be nice if it was able to write chapters for mp3 as well.
View of what chapters look like in Overcast attached.
19 votesWe released support for chapters in MP3 files in version 1.52.

Increase the number of effects
So it looks like I'm the only one with this problem:
I would like to use more than 4 effects / VST plug ins:
Noise Reduction (Reaper ReaFir)
Noise Gate
EQ / Voice Profiler
Compressor
De Esser49 votesThanks everyone for suggesting and supporting this. We have now increased the number of effects to 6 per track.

Add a "Publish to local folder" to the Publish tab.
This could be useful if you would like to publish to your web services, a 'dropbox' derivate and to a local test folder at the same time.
In short, this means to make the export dialog available in the publish tab.17 votesIt is possible to Publish to a local folder in Hindenburg Journalist PRO.
If it’s a synced cloud folder, like Dropbox – then it will automatically be synced in the cloud. -
Join clips
Joining two clips on the same track, say by clicking the line between them, could really help to keep the tracks "clean" and simple.
When you have to move a section it would make it easier when you only have to move one large bit in stead of 5 smaller.
Think of it as a permanent Group.
51 votesCurrently we are beta testing “join Clip” or Merge, as we call it. It’s a not destructive way of merging multiple clips.

Merge multiple sessions in HABC
When we produce large books (studie literature) or books containing several languages, several narrators are working on the same project at the same time, readig different parts.
It would be a nice if we could merge these parts, included structure, pagenum or other elements. Importing audiofiles and adding these elements afterwards takes to much time..Eivind NLB

export to and import from protools etc
I have a project coming up that will require me to give over my feature to the radio station's in house sound engineers and directors. They will want to be able to edit it using their own audio software.
23 votesYes, we dunnit!
Please see details on how you now can export AAF for ProTools and AES31 for WaveLab etc, as well as import PT session files.

Noisegate
Actually I am recording with different microphones and use the whole tracks with and without speach on them. So every track is a mixture from speaking and not speaking. This makes cutting for me much easier but when we sit next to each other of course the microphone(s) which are not active also get some sound from the speaker. To improve sound, a noisegate feature would be a good thing.
thanks!
20 votesWe have made an alternative solution to gate. It’s called Magic Levels and works as a non-destructive “side chained gate”

Move an audio clip and all the other clips that follow with single click
I cut clips a lot in Hindenburg. Then I add other clips in other tracks to make a nice radio piece. But ever so often when listening to the piece, I realize that two clips are too close together, and then it gets more complicated then it needs to be, in my opinion. Because when I move a clip, I either have to move every single clip that comes after it or I've got to zoom out, select all the clips that follow, zoom in again, and move them. When I listen to the bit I changed, all the clips…

Could you support podcast output at -18 LUFS?
Based upon the AES report on loudness standards (http://www.aes.org/technical/documents/AESTD1004_1_15_10.pdf), many professional resources like Transom.org suggest outputting podcasts at -18 LUFS -- particularly if they focus on spoken voice content like interviews.
Does Hindenburg have any plans to develop an output option for -18 LUFS?
Thanks in advance for your consideration of this potential product upgrade.

Flip UI 180 degrees when recording
When I'm recording with the field recorder, I point the mic, which is at these bottom of the phone, at the subject. This causes the UI to be upside down too me ( since the mic is pointing away from me). It would be great if there was an option to flip the UI by 180 degrees so the it appeared right side up to me during recording.
1 voteHi Pat,
That feature already exists – if you tilt the screen downwards towards your interviewee (and give it a second to realise you are serious) , it should flip automatically. -
Text export of chapters
I really would like a function to copy chapter times and titles as simple text to the system clipboard:
00:00:00.000 Chapter Title 1
00:00:56.640 Chapter Title 2
00:12:14.340 Chapter Title 3
00:14:47.131 Chapter Title 4This way it could be pasted right in Podlove Publisher, a popular way to manage podcasts (at least in Germany).

FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) Support
Dear Hindenburg team
I would like Hindenburg Journalist to support .flac (Free Lossless Audio Codec) files.
Many people are using this file format within their workflow, when uncompressed files (e.g. .wav) are too clunky.26 votesHi all,
Hindenburg Journalist can now import FLAC and OPUS.
Journalist PRO can now also export to FLAC and OPUS.

Hindenburg Journalist (Pro) 64 Bit edition
By now, there are many 64 Bit DAWs and plugins. 64 Bit does offer some advantages over old 32 Bit software, especially when in larger projects.
Please provide a 64 Bit version of Hindenburg Journalist (Pro).
