  1. Cue Points / Naming Cue Points at same time

Currently, one has to both enter a cue point and then do an additional right click to name it. Why not have the name box pop up automatically? If the user doesn't want to name it, the next click anywhere else would close the box, but I'm assuming that most people inserting a cue point, do want to name it and it's cumbersome having to right click in a little tiny area to place it, then do the same thing again to name it. This could also be much easier with a cue point list (like markers) that was mentioned…

  2. Compression Based on Peaks, or "Upward" Compression — as a solution to distortion issue

My main and most common issue with Hindenburg, in over years of using it, is that too often both the compression effect (and the built-in limiter in the normalization feature), results in peaks that sound crunched and distorted.

As I understand it, compression works based on an average level, making loud parts quieter and quieter parts untouched. But this often leaves the peaks sounding distorted, in my experience.

When compressing "based on peaks," I believe it leaves the loudest parts untouched and brings up the quieter parts. See more here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/compressor.html

My hope is that, like Audacity, there could be…

  3. Full export options in Publish

Would love to get the full Export options in the Publish setup.

Specifically, we render two files for each episode:
    Low quality, no chapters.
    High quality, with chapters.

Although the Publish/Save to Computer screens do have quality settings, they don't let us specify specific quality settings, nor do they let us have a toggle for chapters.

These options exist in the Export workflow.

It would be great to have the ability in the Publish workflow to be able to specify bitrate and chapters too!

  4. Switch audio input and output more easily

It seems that whenever I want to switch the audio output or input source, I have to go to "preferences" in the menu. It would be nice if input and output could be changed with just a mouse click. Appreciate if you would consider this.

  5. Slightly different colors depending on the type of selection

I would like that when I make a selection with CTRL+ALT+CLICK the color is slightly different than when I select only with CTRL in a fragment. This way if I have the zoom very tight I can know that I have made the selection right with CTRL+ALT+CLICK without having to zoom out.
    Thanks in advance.

  6. Sidechain ducking is great.

In Reaper I can make a sidechain. My voice triggers a compressor and so the ducking is automated.

I wish this could be in Hindenburg Journalist PRO.

  7. Export only selected Chapters/Headings on Narrator

When clicking "Export to ACX" the whole audiobook is exported. Would be great if you could choose which chapters you want to export. For example if an author requests a revission in a specific chapter of the book you don't want to export the whole audiobook again. Just the corrected chapter.

  9. Publish to Ivoox

I have been waiting for this option for years. Ivoox is the most popular podcasting service in Spanish. Recently Ivoox renewed its interface to upload podcasts, I think it is a good time for Hindenburg to include Ivoox in the publish option.

  10. Two ideas?

Firstly would it possible to instigate a batch export feature of audio directly from the timeline for groups/Merged audio files directly in both PRO and Narrator versions? At the moment the closest thing is doing a batch export is from the clipboard (Ctrl + shft + E). But you still have to select each segment individually which is very time consuming - especially when labelling up many small clips for exporting to playout systems. It would be easier to select groups/merges of audio directly on the timeline then export each one as mp3 or wav from the clipboard. Or having…

  11. Narrator "Move and Mark Paragraph"

When recording a paragraph, I usually know when I just "got it wrong," so I just hit the right arrow and move on to stay in the flow.

It would be great to be able to use, say, the down arrow or something to "move and mark," perhaps putting a small mark in the margin or using a different background color for the paragraph so that you could easily see which items you need to re-record.

    Thank you,
    Rob

  12. Adding manuscript when something is already recorded

Is it possible to add a manuscript when you've already recorded something, or must the manuscript file be added to the session before recording?

  13. List of Cuepoints

When I create Markers, they're automatically added to the clipboard. When I create a Cuepoint, though, I don't see any place where that's listed. Would be great if a menu or window could be made that holds a list of cue points, similarly to the Marker clipboard.

  14. SIP Connections

Would be great to have internal support for SIP connections to allow remote recording. Be great to have Hindenburg to Hindenburg connections to record remotely too.

  15. Add cue points on volume curve

Something that has been bugging me since I started working with Hindenburg: how to create volume curves. It's pretty straightforward for fade in/out and simple ducking, but more complex curves (e.g. for music) are a pain to create. Is there a deeper reason why it's not possible to create cue points on the curve that you can drag up and down, like in other DAWs? I'm working on a project at the moment where I create audio curves like on the attached screenshot. While it is possible to do that in Hindy, it would be a lot easier if you…

  16. clarify export dialogue

The best evidence suggests that when exporting a file, The export dialogue parameters are misleading. If once Alex -16 LUFS and mono, the best evidence suggests that it is auto adjusted to be -19 LUFS, which is the mono equivalent to -16 stereo. But there’s no indication in the dialog box that this is happening. Therefore, if an informed user, recognizing that -19 LUFS is the correct setting for mono, manually changes the output setting to -19 LUFS mono, they would — if the protocol continues — get a resultant file of -22 LUFS. This automatic adjustment and conversion is…

  17. Drag playback head

Currently, the only way to move the playback head is to click to the new location. This is non-standard and can also be inconvenient. To make HJP consistent with other DAW's and more usable (and intuitive), user should be able to "grab" the playback head with the mouse and drag it to a new location.

  18. Ability to apply effects to regions, not just tracks

When working with lots of different clips, and attempting to do fairly advanced sound design, it would be really great to not have to have a separate track for each region that requires a different effect.

  19. publish to funkwhale platforms

I just did setup an audio federation platform using funkwhale and it would be great to be able to upload directly to it. It has some API and can also use subsonic api if that helps.

  20. Publish to Transistor

I love Journalist Pro. But the only thing I wish it had was a direct publish to Transistor. Transistor has recently published an API (https://developers.transistor.fm). It would be great to see that implemented.
