Ability to move order of tracks around
Ability to move order of tracks around. I like having my speaking tracks near each other but if I load tracks at different times I cant move them. Would love to move tracks up and down so certain ones can be near each other. Thanks1 vote

Colours and line spacing in Narration View
Hallo and thank you for this great software!
I record my audiobooks on a tablet computer in Narration View.
It would be a great feature if you could mark the text in different colours, for example to mark different characters.
Also it would be great to be able to adjust the line spacing - some texts would be much easier to read with more space between the lines.
Thank you very much!3 votes
copy plugin levels/setting between sessions
It'd be great if we could copy/paste or export the specific settings for plugins on individual tracks between sessions the same way we're able to move audio files and regions.3 votes

I would like to have a functionality like ripple record, meaning one could record directly into an existing recording on one track and all parts behind that recording shift to the right (recordings on other tracks as well).3 votes

HABC for iPad OS
Currently I am using Hindenburg Journalist Pro to record audiobooks, which I read of an iPad Pro.
Seeing as the iPad Pro has a USB-C port that can power most audio interfaces these days, I was thinking it would be fantastic to have HABC running directly on the iPad.
Thus eliminating the need for a separate computer to do the recording on.1 vote
Effect chain with more slots
The effect chain should be extensible, to allow for a (potentially) unlimited number of effects to be inserted. 6 is barely enough, and I sometimes need to pre-process audio into another application, which defeats the purpose of a software as wonderful as HJP.1 vote
Assign Voice Profile window the Voice Profile name
When having several Voice Profiles is difficult to know which one is in use. At times a friend assists me and is quite difficult to verify which profile he uses. Having the Profile Name in the Profile Window will solve this problem and perhaps would increase the use of this feature among users.3 votes

In any other Mac program I know clicking the red circle in the top left of the app window closes the WINDOW but does not quit the app. One should be able to click a window closed and remain in H to be able to simply hit Command+N for. new comp. As per my other suggestion re Command+H this is a glaring and very annoying non-conformance with standard Mac apps3 votes

Dereverb tool and applying plugins/tools to portions of a track and not just the whole track.
I am very interested in a dereverb tool and being able to apply plugins/tools to specific parts of tracks and not just an entire track. I would also even be willing to purchase an extra Hindenburg specific plugin pack like RX7 but simplified for those without an audio engineering degree. A deesser, limiter, vocal rider, would all be great.22 votes
I routinely edit 4-6 hour long podcasts with multiple tracks, some of which only contain short interview snippets. Although I have streamlined my workflow with Hindy considerably, now and then a minor mistake on my part can lead to massive problems. For example: If I cut (ctrl+x) something out of the project and forget to select all tracks, the audio is no longer arranged in the same way that I want it to. Yes, this is visible but when projects become this large, even on a bigger screen you might not be able to spot a mistake only a minute long in a six hour project. Yes, I can partially avoid this by grouping audio from different tracks together but that function has its own pitfalls and is no sure way to prevent this.
What I am proposing is an analoge to the de-bugging feature we find in coding: A function that automatically checks the overall/master audio of the project for silences or overlapping audio files (of course, quite often this is something we actually want: background music or people talking at the same time etc. Usually though, I work with an edited version of the main spoken word part of my audio and then add music, interview snippets and commercials), highlighting those as a de-bugger would source code and then let us browse through them to see, if there actually is a problem. It would be best if we could tell the de-bugger to not involve chosen tracks in this analysis in order to prevent mass-bug detection if we have a background sound/music track somewhere in the project.
This would really make my work a whole lot easier.

Audio input/output settings
Allow HJ to recognize the system default inputs and outputs as the input/output selections in the app as other apps (such as Logic Pro) do. This simplifies the process of coordinating these settings between the OS and the app.1 vote
Punch-in recording for part of a region
Punch-in recording to correct a mistake does not currently stop at the end of the part that needs to be re-recorded but overwrites anything following it. At a recent workshop Jonathan demonstrated a feature from another Hindenburg product that automatically moves anything after a pre-defined part of a region back to allow the take to fill the gap, regardless of how long it is. (I don't recall the name of the feature or of the product at the moment.) It would be great to make this feature available in Journalist PRO as well.5 votes
How about ordering this list by date, with the newest and not the oldest ideas first?
Newest-first makes more sense, as we all have more interest in that which is fresh and new than we do in ideas that appeared years ago.1 vote0 comments · Website · Admin →
