Template projects
It would be great to be able to choose from a series of templates when starting a new project. Ideally I'd like to designate an existing project as a template. Hindenburg would then remove all audio that is not currently used in the editor or clipboard to minimize the size of that project. That would greatly improve my workflow.

Controller support / control mapping
Support for midi, osc, and other hardware communication protocols for physical controller mapping.
43 votesWe do already have that in Hindenburg ABC and it has it’s uses rearding recording lamps, silent buttons and transport … but we have not implemented it in Hindenburg Journalist, as things like automating volume curves would not be possible. This might result in more confusion and frustration – that it would solve. But we will keep it in the back of our minds.

Adding handles to a section of track
I'd like to have the ability to have more ability to fade in and fade out a track. For example, for an audio track I'd like it to fade in, then 20 seconds later it will need to increase in volume during a gap in the vocal track. After 5 seconds it will decrease to a backing track and then fade out completely.

I want more colors!
This is the only feature I miss from the previous editing software I used: the ability to color different regions different colors. It helped me, particularly, to keep things sorted in stories with more than two or three different speakers. A bonus feature was that the old program allowed me to select all of the regions of the same color. Thanks!
11 votesWe do have plans for many more colours in Hindenburg 2.0

"Linked track editing" should work as "editing all tracks"
Hi,
I do long narrative recordings. Whenever there's an error, I drop a marker. I then edit it, and to keep the markers to stay at their position (e g to follow with the audiofile when editing), I make sure that all tracks are marked.
I was glad to read about the Link Tracks feature, but disappointed when I tried it. I expected that editing on Linked tracks worked as mentioned above, but it didn't. Audio markers stayed at the same place on the timeline, instead of following the audiofile(s).I'd be very happy if you changed this! :)

Search/Filter Within Clipboards
Editing large projects with many clips, I regularly spend a lot of time scrolling through the clipboard to find a specific clip. It would be really nice to have a search field or other filters to narrow down the number of clips in the list.

We are still working on it and how to be able to bring more news regarding the development. -
Normal Zoom with Apple Trackpad
On a Mac, it's common to zoom to. like on an iPhone when using the Magic Trackpad. It is a big change to zoom with the scroll movement. Maybe you could provide an optional function in the settings.

Audio to text transcription - best process?
When I want a text transcription of a group of voices in a meeting -- I play the file into my headphones --- then I speak the words into Microsoft Speech Recognition - a resident app that is well trained to my voice.
It's kludgy, but I get about 95% of what I need in text... suffices for notes or for searching for short clips from huge content.
I sure wish I could just route that sound file into a transcriber -- even if it was a crappy job, it would help with planning and producing. Right now it looks…

Add ability to preview an edit
Sound forge lets you make a selection and preview the edit (without the selection) by using ctrl-k. Is this available in Hindenburg? If not, it would be nice!!!

More icons
Loving the program
but it would be nice to have edit icons such as 'Shuffle Trim' or 'Slide audio inside region' on the top edit bar and Loop, Play selection' and 'Rehearse' icons on the bottom play section1 vote -
Upload to Amazon S3
I'm thinking of using Amazon S3 for my audio files. Since S3 doens't have traditional ftp access, it would be great if Hindenburg supported S3 upload.

Ability to hide tracks from the workspace and mixer window
Ever since Avid's move to a subscription based ownership model I've been trying out DAWs to take over from ProTools. I do a lot of work producing radio programs so Hindenburg caught my interest. I just downloaded the Trial and am pretty impressed with Hindenburg's easy interface. I figured out most things in a few clicks and only had to look up a couple of things... BUT here are a couple ideas that would make my life easier.
1) the ability to hide tracks. I like to use a Master channel for my metering and limiting plug-ins. But once I've…4 votes -
Skype to Skype - Good to Great
Being able to record phone calls via Skype is good but it would great if we could record conversations Skype user to Skype user. The fidelity is superior using VOIP than using the phone system. i would still want to be able to record my studio mic into the transmit side.
I hope that makes sense.
Thanks

Give ability to reduce track size even smaller
Often in one session I end up working with 20 tracks. I would love the ability to see them all on the screen at the same time. Currently there's a fairly large Minimum track height. Can that easily be changed?

Printable list of clips (w/timestamps?)
In my workflow, I like to step away from the editor and look at the story as it stands on paper, to get a different perspective about its flow. One way I do this is to take screengrabs of the timeline at a level of zoom that shows the clip names, then print them out... it would be SO much faster and better if I could print a simple text file that listed the clips in the workspace in the order they appear - maybe even a printable version of the workspace? The most important thing would be that the…

Ctrl+arrows = super speed rew/ff
Hi, I'd like an option, for example ctrl + arrow keys, that would speed up ff/rew. Sometimes I want to run through audio faster than it's doing now. A modifier key (ctrl) that speeds it up a lot would be great.
Thanks!

Preserve Timestamps
When Hindenburg copies audio files to the project directory it modifies their timestamp, even if the files are not being re-coded. I would prefer Hindenburg to preserve the "created" time stamp of the original file, so I could delete the original file and still know, when the recording was made.
4 votesThank you. That is a good point and it should be rather easy to add in next update.
