Detect and delete silence
When working with separate tracks of several remote guests on a podcast or talk show it is essential to delete "silent" parts of the track when someone isn't talking. Sometimes these parts are not silent at all (because of a lot of background noise or leaking audio from headphones), but that makes it even more important to have them removed.
I would like Hindi to be able to identify and insert breakpoints around these sections automatically and remove them upon request. That would make my life soooo much easier.
202 votesWe have been looking at how we can implement “delete silence” in Hindenburg. I think we should be able to come up with a solution for that in the near future.
We have been working on some other features that touch the same area, with out latest Beta feature called “Magic Levels”.
It’s a non destructive way of applying Side Chain Gate – so that mixing multiple recordings become very easy.
No the same, I know – be it might help out in the situations where you are looking to reduce Bleed or Noisefloor. -
Export all (or all selected) clips from the whole clipboard or a clipboard group
I'd love to mark several clips in the clipboard and have them batch-exported automatically as separated single audio takes. This would on the one hand allow for reducing the project size dramatically if the original audio source is very large, i.e. an interview or material from a press conference etc.
On the other hand this feature would help to forward single takes to the editorial office or to other applications.43 votesThis is in our backlog for features in Hindenburg 2.0.
We are still working on it and how to be able to bring more news regarding the development. -
View > Cue Points
The menu item View > Markers does not show Cue Points which is a pity. I propose inserting a new menu item View > Cue Points which shows a list of all cue points.
37 votesCue Points are tricky as you can have multiple versions of the same cue point at different places in the timeline.
As Curpoint are related to the audio – then it will also move, copy, delte, tase …as the audio does. So having a Cue Markers list is a bit of a moving target.
It’s possible to set and export other markers, if that is what is needed. You could for instance use the Chapter Markers and then export them as text. -
More flexible clipboards
It would be nice to be able to have two columns in the clipboard section, or create a custom grid pattern so I'm not limited by the height of my screen (I currently have my clipboards on a separate screen than the rest of Hindenburg Journalist, and also using the max number of clipboards)
35 votesThis will be implemented in Hindenburg PRO 2. It is already a feature of the BETA, so if you wish to try, please inquire the BETA.

Color Coding
I wish there was an option to color code clips. That way it would be easier to identify splits you want to come back to.

Text editor/scroller
I would like a built-in basic text editor for writing a script that would then be saved automatically with the audio files for a particular project.
It would be useful if the script could be scrolled across the screen autocue-style while recording in Hindenburg.14 votes -
Minimize Clipboard Groups / Folders Within Groups
I would love both the ability to quickly minimize or expand a particular clipboard group and the ability to have folders within groups that can also be quickly minimized or expanded.
Having to manually expand each group can be quite clunky when there are several groups in the clipboard, especially on a smaller screen.
Thanks!

Jump-Key ( forward / backward ) to the next eevent
At the moment it is only possible to jump to the end or the beginning of a track.
in some time it is necessary, to jump EXACTLY to the beginning or end of a clip.
Positioning with the Cursor is not precise enough. This function should work only for a marked Soundtrack.

MacBook Pro Touch Bar Support
I noticed that Journalist does not include support for the MBP Touch Bar. It might be useful to have some of the basic editing commands, record button, channel muting, or other options available using the interface.
I realize this is only available to a small subset of overall users, so I understand it's not a priority.

Change height of tracks individually
It would be great to be able to change the height of tracks individually to minimize their visual space in the edit window. Example -- a track of raw tape back up -- just to have a linear reference -- but I 99% of the time I don't need to see it expanded.

Fix "save as"
Currently when I use an existing project as a template for a new one Hindenburg only adds a new session file ("Project.nhsx"), not a new File directory ("Project Files"). That makes it impossible (or at least risky to the uninformed user) to save the new session file in another directory. It makes it also harder to share a project, as the File directory is cluttered with files which may or may not be needed after "saving as".

Preserve groups on clipboard import
When importing clipboards from project A with groups A1...A4 into project B all clips in group A1 are added to B1, A2 to B2, and so on. This also happens when groups have custom names. At least in this case it would make sense to add the custom named group as it is in project A as an additional group in project B. If groups in A and B have identical names or standard names, I would like to have a choice to either merge the groups as it is happening now or import them as additional groups.

Export all markers as text file
Dear Hindenburg staff,
many thanks for your great product. I often use it while putting together pieces for German public radio.
I have a very simple request. Would it be possible to make all markers exportable as text files, not just the chapter markers?
I often use markers for notetaking. I know that you can find them in the nhsx-File, so I'm wondering how difficult it would be to export them directly in the software.
Reaper, for example, can export its marker list as both txt and csv. Basically, at the moment, I listen to my recordings in Reaper, and…

Menu button to shrink or expand timeline to show full project.
Add a menu button to show full project in the timeline. Beats having to repeatedly click the 'Out -' button.

Audio-to-Text-Transcription
Imagine your audio quotes being transcribed into text automatically. I was impressed to see how the start up Detour does that
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1evmLntTT20#action=shareThis would be great for Hindenburg.

Multiple Session "Defaults" or Profiles
I run multiple podcasts, and having a default session with the track order, names, and lines is great, but now for the second and third podcasts I need to edit that every time.
Could we get multiple profiles, so I could load in my Podcast1 settings, then my podcast2 settings?

Clipboard always visible
Hi there!
I would love, if the clipboard with all the clips that I extracted and named would be visible all the time – also if I switching from Hindenburg to, lets say, Microsoft Word, for writing the script parallel on a second screen.
Now it is a problem. I switch to a different program then Hindenburg, and the clipboard disappears. So I cannot peak, which soundbites I can use in my manuscript. Thanks a lot!

Ability to mute the person, that makes the call
It would be good to be able to mute oneself, when the source is talking to avoid breathing and background-noise from myself.
