1. Strip silence

   I edited a series of podcasts recently. This required manually removing silence, which was quite the chore. Please, please, please implement a 'strip silence' feature to make editing more pleasurable!

2. Standard Waveform Option

   I use Hindy and love it ... but I also use Reaper, Audition, and other DAWs.

   The most frustrating part of editing in Hindy is the visual of the waveform. It simply takes longer to find the features in the visual when making edits.

   Reaper is a great model to look at in this regard.

3. Colours and line spacing in Narration View

   Hallo and thank you for this great software!

   I record my audiobooks on a tablet computer in Narration View.

   It would be a great feature if you could mark the text in different colours, for example to mark different characters.

   Also it would be great to be able to adjust the line spacing - some texts would be much easier to read with more space between the lines.

5. Search text in Narrator

   Let's say my engineer comes back to me and says, "Hey, you mispronounced that name every time. It's not TUR-gen-ev, it's Tur-GAIN-yev." (This just happened to me.) I want to be able to search the text, click on the highlighted text, and end up in the right paragraph to fix the audio of each one of those occurrences.

6. Fix the Pro 2 Clipboard

   So I downloaded the new Pro 2 so that I could get more functionality out of
   the clipboard, which I rely on intensively. In one morning of editing, here
   are the glitches I've found. I write this to you because I RELY on
   Hindenburg every day, and I want to keep going with it, but these weird
   glitches make me lose faith in the program. I'll probably buy this after
   the trial ends, but I'd really like to know if these things will be
   fixed...and I worry there will be lots more glitches to come.

   Hindy Clipboard glitches

   When you try and paste a section into a NEW clipboard bin from the edit
   session, it instead pastes it into the category you were working in before
   and you have to go looking for it.

   But when you do global search for a file, it comes up but doesn’t tell you
   what clipboard 'bin’ it’s in, and it’s unclear how to get BACK to the
   general clipboard menu. You have to actually delete the search words to get
   back to the main clipboard frame but that’s not intuitive.

   Then if you maximize the clipboard, there’s no button to minimize it again
   without closing out of the clipboard entirely.

   When you try and rename a file in a clipboard bin, you double click on
   name, the whole name is highlighted, but then it doesn’t let you
   ‘command-arrow’ to get to end or beginning of name. you have to click with
   cursor. That wasn’t true of old one. And if you mistakenly delete the
   words, you can’t control z and get the name back. This matters because that
   particular name is associated often with a logging document.

   If you delete a file in a clipboard, cannot Control Z and get it back

7. Clipboard fixes for 2.0

   I've gotten to the part of the edit where it's nearly impossible to proceed
   with the new Clipboard. The most central problem is when I try and paste a
   clip from the edit into a particular bin, it won't let me. It pastes
   SOMEWHERE, but not necessarily in the bin I need it to be in. Then I have
   to do a search for it, and the serach result still doesnt tell me where
   that byte is (which group it mysteriously saved to), so i have to drag it
   into the edit and THEN try pasting it into the right group. This is making
   it impossible to proceed with this show because I can't organize my
   material. I understand that new versions are inevitably glitchy at
   first...but the sheer number of problems here is pretty intense...and some
   are nearly impossible to work around. So when I ask if you plan to fix
   these things and get a one sentence answer...essentially, 'we'll look into
   it.' I don't really know how to interpret that. Does that mean you'll be
   fixing these things in a week? A year? Is there a schedule for these fixes,
   updates?

   I've really appreciated Hindenburg. It's been my daily companion for the
   better part of a decade. I'm hoping these problems can get solved and if
   they are, I'd love to have some idea when that will be. Here are the issues
   I've found in the last couple days...(a few additional to the last list):

   When you try and paste a section into a NEW clipboard bin from the edit

   you have to go looking for it. Actually I’m not even certain WHERE it
   pastes them. I know that if you do a global search for the file it comes
   up, but doesn’t tell you what group it’s in, so you have to drag the clip

   which doesn't always work.

   Also, it’s unclear how to get BACK to the general clipboard menu from the
   search. You have to actually delete the search words to get back to the

   I have 50 clips in a bin, that means dragging it down and down and down til
   I can pull it into another. Should be a way to cut and copy

   No way to select multiple clips and move together to new group.

   The promotional video shows a user dragging a segment from the edit into
   clipboard. Not working.

   I don't know how hard this is to design, but it would be nice if I could
   pull clipboard groups out to different parts of screen so I could see items
   in each at the same time, instead of stacked. So if I’m working with
   ‘Interviews’ and ‘Doc tape’, and each bin has MANY bytes, I don’t have to
   endlessly scroll. Just more options with how Clipboard groups live on the
   screen.

   If previewing clip, can’t leave program or clip stops playing. I often take
   notes as I’m listening to a clip but now I have to drag into work edit to
   listen and take notes. This was not true in other version.

8. Overdub in Field Recorder

   For me as a musician is is necessary to record several tracks in one project. For example when I have an idea of a nice melody that I want to show my band members, I would like to record the chords, and in a second take I would like to record the melody. In the description of the App it says that you can add tracks such as background noises or comments. But in the lite version I don't see this Option. I don't understand why it isn't possible to simply create a second track, to make overdubs. Please tell me if this is possible in the pay version. I would also appreciate to see a demo of this.

   By the way, I think that you could reach more people if you would listen to the feedback of professional musicians. They often use handhield recorders to practice or to record concerts and rehearsals.

9. Ability to mute the person, that makes the call

   It would be good to be able to mute oneself, when the source is talking to avoid breathing and background-noise from myself.

10. Clipboard always visible

    Hi there!

    I would love, if the clipboard with all the clips that I extracted and named would be visible all the time – also if I switching from Hindenburg to, lets say, Microsoft Word, for writing the script parallel on a second screen.
    Now it is a problem. I switch to a different program then Hindenburg, and the clipboard disappears. So I cannot peak, which soundbites I can use in my manuscript.

12. A preview window for clipboard items, similar to video editors

    I'd love to be able to scrub through items in the clipboard, mark in and out, and only bring that section onto the timeline. Also, to type in timecodes from transcripts and bring you to that exact time in the clip. 13. The ability to cut clips and have it affect the whole session

    I really love the new feature to cut a clip and only affect the region, instead of the whole track. Similarly it would be great to have a combination of hot keys that would allow you to cut and have it affect the entire session. The work around is create in and out points highlight all the tracks of the session and hit x, but I do this so much one I have a piece going it would be nice to hold command + (another key) + x and have the whole session move in sync without selecting every track. Is there another work around I'm not aware of?

14. Custom File Names, IOS 10 fix, Dual Mono record and others

    Hindenburg:

    First, I love your iPhone app and use it all the time. I am not a journalist, but a musician, and I find your app the easiest to use for getting ideas down quickly. The scrubbing is great amongst many other features.

    However, there are a few things I would love to see.

    • in IOS 10 the interface is not correct and has some artifacting around the playback line

    • MOST IMPORTANT: Able to custom name audio files especially for easy ID in iTunes file sharing. I can rename Sessions in the Sessions window, but those file names do not carry through to the root files names and you end up with names like "2015-01-06 12-18-16 Files" where it is impossible to tell what the files have been renamed to.

    I am aware that I could "Share" the file, but that adds an extra step, takes time and takes up space on the device. I really want to be able to just open up File Sharing in iTunes and transfer the files with the custom names.

    I know it's the competition, but Apogee MetaRecorder is capable of doing this. Perhaps check it out.

    • Able to rename files in Favorites.

    • Able to rearrange order in Favorites

    • Able to record in stereo, mono or dual mono.
      I have a Zoom H6 and Fostex AR101 which I sometimes use as an audio interface. They can output stereo and/or mono, dual mono, but the recorder only records in stereo. An option for record format would be nice.

    • EQ would be nice since there's compression

    • When Sharing, enable select of multiple sessions to do a bulk share/output. Currently one at a time. Too time consuming.

16. Queued/Bulk Exports

    It would be really awesome Hindy could queue projects to be exported. That way a whole bunch of projects could be rendered at a given time, instead of twiddling my thumbs for ten minutes each export.

17. Navigation and Exporting

    Hi, I've been using Journalist PRO for about 6 months now. I have high hopes for this platform but there are some things that need addressing.

    1. Ability to Export all chapters at once with either auto naming (name_01.wav) or name of chapter.

    2. Option to make the Export progress window disappear after export. Please!! Having to close that window and export each chapter one at a time is a time killer!!

    3. When adding a Master track it should automatically create it at the bottom of the window, and...

    4. Master track should be size adjustable independently from the other tracks.

    5. Ability to rearrange track order with drag and drop

    6. Ability to save more than one session template

    NAVIGATION!!!
    7. zoom should center the playhead in the workspace

    1. Ability to use keyboard arrow keys to jump to playhead, jump to beginning or end of selected region.

    2. Ability to use down arrow to relocate cursor to current playhead position…. while in playback or rec mode.

    3. MARKERs 1 and 2 should be markers! Not In/Out selection! Please!

    I do hope you can address the needs of the professional community quickly as I've already started to recommend Hindenburg for broadcast applications.

18. Ability to sort markers by time not assigned number

    In HABC NLS, it would be really helpful to have the ability to sort the markers by time. We use markers in the editing & recording processes to id corrections that are found in the reviewing process and to id spots where a narrator has redone a section. Ability to sort by time would mean that its easy to identify time frame and book section for corrections.

19. Visualize content filled with audio in the Manuscript and Narrator View.

    Make visual what has been filled with audio or not in the manuscript and especially the narrator view. Like it is in the contents view now. Or just with a different colour for the chapters that have been read and filled with audio. It makes it so much easier to navigate for readers that use the narrator view only.

20. More radiant color for Solo

    When we click on "Mute", the color change is a nice bright yellow. But when we click on "Solo" the color change is not as noticeable. Please make the activation of "Solo" the same bright yellow as "Mute". Perhaps even make it "Bold".

    I have many times scratched my head wondering why a track can't be heard. Then I squint at "Solo" as see that it has been activated.
