  1. Navigation and Exporting

Hi, I've been using Journalist PRO for about 6 months now. I have high hopes for this platform but there are some things that need addressing.

    1. Ability to Export all chapters at once with either auto naming (name_01.wav) or name of chapter.

    2. Option to make the Export progress window disappear after export. Please!! Having to close that window and export each chapter one at a time is a time killer!!

    3. When adding a Master track it should automatically create it at the bottom of the window, and...

    4. Master track should be size adjustable independently from the other tracks.

    5. Ability to…

  2. Ability to sort markers by time not assigned number

In HABC NLS, it would be really helpful to have the ability to sort the markers by time. We use markers in the editing & recording processes to id corrections that are found in the reviewing process and to id spots where a narrator has redone a section. Ability to sort by time would mean that its easy to identify time frame and book section for corrections.

  3. Visualize content filled with audio in the Manuscript and Narrator View.

Make visual what has been filled with audio or not in the manuscript and especially the narrator view. Like it is in the contents view now. Or just with a different colour for the chapters that have been read and filled with audio. It makes it so much easier to navigate for readers that use the narrator view only.

  4. More radiant color for Solo

When we click on "Mute", the color change is a nice bright yellow. But when we click on "Solo" the color change is not as noticeable. Please make the activation of "Solo" the same bright yellow as "Mute". Perhaps even make it "Bold".

I have many times scratched my head wondering why a track can't be heard. Then I squint at "Solo" as see that it has been activated.

    Thanks!

  7. Hello, I am a blind and it is not possible for me to use and modify the volume. Do you have some short cut for that? Could you work on this?

Hello, I am a blind journalist and I would like first tou congratulate you for the accessibility's work that you did in this program. Neverttheless, it is not possible for me to contrôle and modify the volume of my traks because this fonction seems to be only visual. Does it exist some short cut which allaws blind people to increase or decrease a track's volume? Otherwise, maybe you could include a parameter in the menu for this? Anyway, I hope you will be able to suggest me something quickly about that.

  8. Session import: option to specify into existing tracks or new tracks and to specify whether effects should be imported as well

I think the session import feature is stellar. However, I wish there was an option to specify whether the imported tracks are to be imported into existing tracks or should create new tracks. Additionally, if they are to be imported into new tracks, it would be great to have the option to also import any effects and settings.

Also, if it were possible to import across sample rates, that would be great.

It’s probably an edge case. But it would be nice.

Still convinced Hindenburg is the best :-)

  9. "Selection Mode"

When first cutting a recorded interview, usually there is no need for selecting and dragging regions. The main activity is selecting areas for editing, splitting areas and cutting. However, the primary function of the mouse button is still the selecting of regions - you have to go to some empty place (often the only option is the thin area* separating two tracks) for the cursor to change into selection mode.

So it would be very useful to have a shortcut (like SomeKey+mouse drag) to put the mouse cursor in selection mode, or even a dedicated Selection Mode, when only the…

  10. Enable Win10 shortcut on Narration View window for moving to another monitor

In a studio-environment it can be quite messy when you need to drag the Narration View window with the mouse to an external monitor for the reader in the cabin. You don't see that monitor, so it is a bit odd.

Windows 10 has a set of very nice shortcuts for Window management. Although the shortcut for maximizing (Windows key + arrow up) works perfectly fine, the combination Windows key + SHIFT + arrow left/right doesn't.

With Windows key + SHIFT + arrow left/right you can move a window between monitors. This is a very handy shortcut! This works with…

  11. Locking the Manuscript

In an organisation that has multiple recording studios It is common to prepare the structure in advance, send it to a studio and after the recording someone does a quality check on the end product.
One of those checks is very evident: checking if the structure of the book is intact.

Hindenburg ABC has already a difference between a reading mode and edit mode on the manuscript but we believe we could gain more security if you could activate an overall lock on the entire manuscript. For example with a menu option, or with a lock button on the manuscript…

  12. Bug: Wrong channel recorded

    OS: Windows 10
    Version: Hindenburg 1.82.2302

I noticed the following behavior and I think, this is a bug:

When I connect a Zoom H6 Fiel recorder to the computer and use the the H6 in as interface in multi track mode, I can choose different inputs for different tracks, for example Microphone 3 and 4 in Hindenburg for H6 channels 1 and 2 (XLR inputs).

I can see the levels of both microphones in Hindenburg separately on both tracks, just as I would expect.

But ony the first of the both channels is recorded on both tracks. The second microphone…

  13. Markdown export of chapters

Journalist already has Text export of chapter info. But the format isn't convenient for my purposes.

Would it be possible to either have markdown export as well.

    OR

A way to provide a template for how to format the text output?

  14. solo should be a radio-button

First, you should do a tutorial video on the way the solo and mute buttons should be used as intended, because perhaps it's just just me that have the wrong assumptions.

The manual says: "Solo this track Only the sound from this track can be heard." That's not really what happens.

The way I expect the solo buttons to work is the same way as radio-buttons do: only one can be selected at a time, selecting one unselects the previously selected button.

I saw the option-click that was added, but it does not help for the solo buttons. What it does…

  15. Auto-leveling LUFS

I am unsatisfied with the auto-leveling in Hindenburg. mostly how its confusing. I often use music as a bed to talk over for my podcast. Whenever I use the auto-level, the music is always too loud and I have to manually lower it by 3-6 db. I would like more transparency about what LUFS level the tracks are auto-leveled to. I usually export to -16 LUFS, but when I use the loudness meter, its not -16 LUFS. What is the LUFS when I am editing? When I manually adjust an auto-level and then export, does it export that track at…

  16. Close Window

In any other Mac program I know clicking the red circle in the top left of the app window closes the WINDOW but does not quit the app. One should be able to click a window closed and remain in H to be able to simply hit Command+N for. new comp. As per my other suggestion re Command+H this is a glaring and very annoying non-conformance with standard Mac apps

  18. Assign Voice Profile window the Voice Profile name

When having several Voice Profiles is difficult to know which one is in use. At times a friend assists me and is quite difficult to verify which profile he uses. Having the Profile Name in the Profile Window will solve this problem and perhaps would increase the use of this feature among users.

  19. Ripple record

I would like to have a functionality like ripple record, meaning one could record directly into an existing recording on one track and all parts behind that recording shift to the right (recordings on other tracks as well).

  20. copy plugin levels/setting between sessions

It'd be great if we could copy/paste or export the specific settings for plugins on individual tracks between sessions the same way we're able to move audio files and regions.
